Help! I am kind of sick..

Hi All,
Today I wanted to share something about how I feel and what I do when I am a bit sick. And with a bit sick I mean that you are too sick to go to work or to go outside, but on the other hand, you still feel kind of okay.

Last month I was sick for three days due to a minor bacterial infection. After two days it got better, but I was not yet fully recovered for work. But also not feeling too sick not to do anything. Maybe in the Netherlands, I would have gone back to work at the moment I did not have to rush to the bathroom every hour. But In Poland, you are not allowed to go to work as long as you are on a sick leave. This is an official document, which states that you are not allowed to work for a certain period.

As a person that likes to spend her time outdoors when the sun is out, go for a run or a walk in the park. These days are always very hard for me. Normal people would start watching a movie or series, for me however this does not work. When I start watching movies and series for the whole day I just get more tired and it feels after 2 days all of my energy has been drained. The moment I am sick and I am really sick I do not really mind, but after a couple of days when I start feeling better, it just becomes a punishment. Even in winter, when it is cold outside and I am not allowed to go anywhere I feel like a prisoner in my own house.

Luckily, the last time I was handling it better. The moments that I was awake I was reading some of my books. Browsing the internet for some extra ideas for my blog, reading about running tips and exploring for an active cam. During my sickness, I was doubting between hiring a photographer for a photoshoot or buying an active cam which I can use over and over to make my own photo’s. But after two days I decided what to do about this and I got a bit bored again.

I was already dreaming about the first run I would do again after I was fully better. How long should I run? Where will I go? I spend some time calling with my mom and she understood that it was getting to me. I was training for a half marathon and now I am laying in bed for a couple of days not doing anything. Of course, I would not lose all of my endurance during these days but still after I would have to start again slow. Simply because my body was still recovering and would be drained from energy.
Besides, reading books about running or that my Instagram feed is full of people that are running in the sun did not help. But on the other side, it is also a good motivation because these people are inspiring me to pick up the running again after I get well.

So what do I do when I am kind of sick? But not sick enough that I really have to stay in bed due to a fever? I take a break, a small rest. Taking 3-5 days rest is better than keep on going and only getting sicker. I have been there and I have done that. Now, I can just see it as a small holiday for my feet and joints and after they will also be well rested and we can pick up the training again. And during these days in the house, I can focus on my blog, reading my books for which I almost never make time and experiment in the kitchen.

What do you do when you are a bit sick? Do you decide to take a short rest for a couple of days? Or do you keep on going?
